Gerald Ponting grew up on a small farm in Hampshire and studied at the University of Southampton. His 30-year career as a Biology Teacher was divided between Suffolk, Stornoway (Isle of Lewis) and back in Hampshire. He has written around 20 books on the local history of several Hampshire communities. His ‘Visitors Guide to the New Forest’ went through five editions between 2000 and 2013.
His special interests, as well as local history, include wildflowers, stone circles, photography and travel.

Gerald’s interest in wildflowers started when He was eight years old and He HAS been giving presentations on the topic since 1987. His latest project, photographed over two years, took Him to Nature Reserves and flower-bedecked roadsides, all within eight miles of His home.

This event is open to all and free to Trust Members.

Non-Members entrance fee for the talk is £4.

This event will be a virtual presentation from Gerald using the new Village Hall presentation screen and sound system.
